Introduction:

Lightning crashes and the lights flicker. You are ushered into the residence of 999 happy haunts where they are looking for one more soul. Funko Disney’s Haunted Mansion: Call of the Spirits game will scare you to death! Muhahahaha!

Haunted Mansion: Call of the Spirits, The Game:

Disney’s Haunted Mansion has delighted young and old since 1969. Now, Funko has created a new board game experience to hold you over until your next trip to the happiest place on Earth. We look at Disney’s The Hunted Mansion: Call of the Spirits game in this blog.

The game is available for purchase from a number of vendors. Here are some of the prices you can find online.

Haunted Mansion: Call of the Spirits retails for $24.99 but I was able to find it on Amazon for $22.03.

I also found the game for sale at the vendors below:

I bought this game because my family and I are fans of the ride at Walt Disney World. The Haunted Mansion is one of the most iconic attractions at the Disney theme parks. We feel a game based on the ride would be a wonderful addition to our game collection.

Our Impressions of Haunted Mansion: Call of the Spirits:

Opening Call of the Spirits, we received a pleasant surprise to see the level of detail Funko put into the packaging. The first thing we noticed was the artwork mirroring the hall of portraits around the interior box. The next wonderful detail we saw was the Haunted Mansion wallpaper design print on the internal spacers. Lastly, we were extremely happy to see a depiction of the stretching room on the inside of the box lid.

The Haunted Mansion: Call of the Spirits board also has beautifully designed scenes of the crypt, graveyard, ballroom, dining room, attic, and library. The most outstanding feature, to me personally, is the hitchhiking ghosts marker. It is crafted in a translucent blue plastic and has the three hitchhikers in fine detail.

Game setup is relatively simple. Gameplay is a little complicated but handy reference cards are available to each player to aid with the order of game operations.

I feel Haunted Mansion: Call of the Spirits is an excellent way of helping a child develop a number of skills and abilities. Specifically, counting, matching, and basic strategy. Counting comes into play during the endgame when players tally up the point value of their ghost collections and haunt cards. Matching is done during play when ghost cards are collected and organized into groups.

Conclusion:

As with most games a certain amount of strategy is required. Haunted Mansion: Call of the Spirits is a game of picking up matching cards and dueling with other players to capture cards. The duels make the players consider the value of a card and then weigh the risk of battling for that card. With a little help from an adult, a child could have a lot of fun learning to duel and play Haunted Mansion. And having fun is what game night is all about.
